One clear choice in Lewes: Vessella

By Mike Clemmer | May 10, 2013

I recently attended the Lewes Homeowners Association Candidate Forum for the individuals running for Lewes City Council. I only wish more citizens of Lewes could have attended this forum and been able to compare first-hand the qualifications and demeanor of the four candidates seeking election Saturday, May 11.

The exchanges were interesting and very telling. Only one candidate stood out. That candidate was Candace Vessella. Not only was she prepared and knowledgeable of the issues she appeared genuinely committed not to maintain the status quo but to aggressively address the critical issues facing Lewes in the future.

Her extensive administrative qualifications and experience in both the public and private sectors will serve Lewes well. Her commitment to completely explore issues before “shooting from the hip” was refreshing.

If her service on the Lewes Board of Public Works is any indication, she will bring a refreshing openness and transparency to the deliberations of the city council.

Will she be able to solve all of Lewes’s problems and challenges? No, but what she pledges to do is to carefully and methodically address them and render considered and thoughtful solutions that are in the best interest of City of Lewes.
