Osher Lifelong Learning: Volunteer instructors for 2015 should apply by Sept. 25
People who want to share their passion, hobby or expertise by teaching a class of eager learners are encouraged to volunteer at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Lewes.
Osher Lewes, a learning cooperative of adults 50 and over, is looking for volunteer instructors for the spring 2015 semester. Classes will begin Jan. 26 and conclude April 2. Many courses are of 10-week duration, meeting 90 minutes once a week.
Depending upon subject matter and instructor availability, five-week courses are also an option. Most classes are held at the Fred Thomas Building in Lewes and the Ocean View Town Hall and Community Center.
Those willing to participate as volunteer instructors in the spring Lifelong Learning program should complete a proposal form at www.lifelonglearning.udel.edu/lewes, specifying the nature and description of the course proposed. The deadline for receipt of proposals is Sept. 25. Proposal forms may also be obtained by calling the Osher Lewes office at 302-645-4111.
Osher Lewes also offers a four-week June session every year. Anyone interested in teaching in the summer 2015 and/or fall 2015 semesters should call the office.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware is a membership organization that provides opportunities for adults 50 and over to learn, teach, and travel with their peers. The only requirements for admission are interest in a continuing educational experience, support of the program through participation and a modest membership fee.
Programs are held in Lewes, Dover and Wilmington. For more information about Osher Lewes, go to www.lifelonglearning.udel.edu/lewes or call 302-645-4111.
