The Parkinson Education and Support Group of Sussex County is sponsoring a four-day therapist and exercise class leader program between Oct. 26 and Oct. 29. The program will be taught by Becky Farley, cofounder of the BIG Therapy program for people with Parkinson's, and more recently, the founder of the Parkinson's Wellness Program.

The classes will be taught at the Stockley Center on Route 113 between Georgetown and Millsboro. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., Oct. 26. Classes on all days start at 8 a.m. and end between 3:30 and 5:30, depending on the day. The therapist class will be taught Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27, and can accommodate 40 students. The exercise class leader sessions will be taught Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 28 and 29, and can accommodate 30 students.

"We are inviting therapists, therapist assistants and potential exercise class leaders from all over Delmarva to attend the course so that people with Parkinson's all over Delmarva will benefit from the training," said Dennis Leebel, leader of the the Parkinson's Support Group.

The four-day program will conclude with a presentation by Farley intended for people with Parkinson's. The presentation is free and will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29. Anyone on the Delmarva Peninsula with Parkinson's and their family and friends are invited to hear Farley talk about how her therapy and exercise programs can have a positive impact on the lives of people with Parkinson's.
