Paul 'Kell' Brooks, devoted father
Paul “Kell” Brooks, 86, of Millsboro, formerly of Delanco, N.J., passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Mr. Brooks was born in Berlin, N.J., Sept. 16, 1926, son of the late Henry and Vera (Ligalis) Brooks. Paul was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Brooks was part owner of Rock Hill Manufacturing in Mt. Holly, N.J. After his retirement and move to Delaware he was a part-time employee at Caswell Hardware Store for the past 22 years, until the beginning of August once his health started to decline. Paul was a member of the American Legion, was an avid yard saler, but will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was an avid hunter, and the only thing that made him happier than hunting was going fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte Armstrong Brooks in 2000; a son, Ronald Brooks in 2009; and his five siblings. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Whitehouse and her husband Mario Tatom of Riverside, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Brooks of Delanco, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Brooks of Fla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Armstrong of Delanco; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Shawn) Sullivan, Kristen Brooks, Brooke (Steve) Hasher, Stefanie Whitehouse and Jordan (Erica) Whitehouse; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 11 a.m. Interment will follow with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
