Pedestrian hospitalized following Lewes crash
Lewes — A 71-year-old Lewes woman was hospitalized after she was hit by a car while crossing Savannah Road at Dewey Avenue.
According to Lewes Police Chief Jeffrey Horvath, the victim was using a crosswalk about 4:40 p.m., Aug. 29, when she was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Angela Miller-Taylor, 45, of Lewes.
The victim was in critical but stable condition at the time of the accident. Friends of the victim say she was immediately taken to Beebe Healthcare, but then flown to Christiana Hospital.
Miller-Taylor was charged with failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and inattentive driving.
Horvath said the investigation is ongoing.
