Rehoboth Beach — An 18-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing DUI and vehicular assault charges after a three-car crash that closed Route 24 for nearly three hours just after midnight June 15.

Tanner Schultz, 18, of Barto, Pa. was driving his 2003 BMW 325xi westbound near the Lewes/Rehoboth Beach Fire Station 3 on Route 24 when he drifted into the eastbound lane and struck a 2008 Honda Odyssey driven by Stella Chow, 50, of Camden-Wyoming. Chow was traveling with three teenagers.

A third car, driven by Jaime Parker, 25, of Millsboro, crashed into the rear of Chow’s Honda, leaving all three cars in the eastbound lane. A 21-year old female was a passenger in Parker's car.

Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department firefighters came across the crash while returning from another call and were the first on the scene. All seven people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts and treated for nonthreatening injuries at separate hospitals. Schultz, Chow and the teenagers were taken to Beebe Medical Center; Parker was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier said no update is available on their condition.

Schultz will be charged with six counts of second-degree vehicular assault, one count of DUI and one count of improper lane change.
