Plan now to attend Milton holiday events
Wonderful Milton, Delaware, is ever so beautiful in these picture-postcard days of autumn. Here is one town where residents and visitors alike can easily enjoy themselves. That such a town exists is proof positive that when you combine a scenic location, a location in perfect proximity to so much of what makes Delaware the First State and in so many ways; when one considers Milton's colorful history captured in the town's museum and historical society and clearly evident in the town's historic district architecture; when one witnesses the contributions that businesses, service organizations and the town's churches and schools contribute to help make Milton ever so unique, well, one can only marvel at what the future most certainly promises for wonderful Milton, Delaware.
From the town's now thriving farmers market to the tireless energy of the all-volunteer garden club's contribution to making Milton just that much more beautiful, season to season; on to the town's lovely parks and recreation options on the Broadkill River - yes, 'a river runs through it'! - and certainly recognizing the many functions so warmly hosted at the town's first-rate volunteer fire department and Milton's internationally recognized Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, one might wonder at the so-called glue that keeps such a town united and moving forward.
Milton is served by capable elected officials, volunteer committee members and laudable public servants, but perhaps most noteworthy, are the everyday Jane and Joe Citizens who at times fearlessly hold their town government accountable to the utmost in transparency and overall good governance. With such a winning town chemistry as all of the above constitutes, why not make plans now to enjoy Historic Milton's Holiday House Tour sponsored by Milton's Century Club from 3 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 (www.miltoncenturyclub.com).
It is this Miltonian's opinion that this Milton Century Club event, along with the Milton Garden Club's early summer garden tour, is indeed, a highlight of a year chock-full of special events. Wonderful!
No wonder I must often close my opinion letters with, "Pardon the hyperbole, but life can be oh, so wonderful in the best little town in the universe!"
