Three Florida men and a Selbyville woman face charges after police say they stole checks and identifications throughout February from several vehicles along Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach.

Police began investigating Feb. 1 after someone wrote out several checks for more than $1,000 and cashed or tried to cash them at various banks in Anne Arundel County, Md., said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

On Feb. 25, Fournier said, Erin N. Jordan, 24, of Selbyville tried to cash a stolen check at County Bank in Georgetown. When the teller realized the check was stolen and returned to the drive-in window, he said, Jordan had driven away.

Police tracked Jordan down Feb. 27 at the the Econo Lodge in Rehoboth Beach where she was found with Rodney B. Moss, 27, Javon A. Jackson, 24, and Anthony O. Dixon, 24, all of Florida.

One of the men walked out of the motel room, but quickly returned to the room and locked it after police approached him, Fournier said. Police outside the motel watched the three men go out on the balcony and try to escape before returning to the room. Fifteen minutes later, he said, police took them into custody.

Police found a stolen credit card in the room during a search.

All four were charged with 93 counts of third-degree burglary, felony theft, identity theft, forgery, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

The men were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $139,500 cash bond; Jordan was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in default of $46,500 cash bond.
