The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. July 6, as Craig M. Shine, 26, of Nottingham, Pa., was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck southbound on Route 1. The truck was stopped for a red light in the right lane at the intersection with Old Landing Road when a 2004 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle, operated by Kenneth E. Hunt, 24, of Dover, was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 1 approaching the pickup at a high rate of speed.  As the traffic signal changed to green, the Dodge began to proceed south and for unknown reasons, Hunt failed to see the truck, causing the motorcycle to strike the rear of the truck.
Hunt, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shine and two adult male passengers, who were all properly restrained, were uninjured in the collision.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Coastal Highway southbound at Old Landing Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
