Police: Long Neck man arrested in M&T Bank robbery
Police say a 32-year-old Millsboro man walked into a Long Neck bank March 23, vaulted over the counter and demanded cash from three tellers.
Police said the man, later identified as Hakim Drake, wore sunglasses, and a cloth covered half his face. He entered M&T Bank at 9:34 a.m., showing what police said looked like a gun. After the tellers gave him cash, he left on foot; as police arrived, witnesses told the troopers they saw a man running toward Long Neck Apartments dropping money as he ran.
Cpl. John Day said a trooper searching the complex saw Drake leave his apartment and then immediately retreat back inside, locking the door. Troopers set up a perimeter around the apartment building and evacuated nearby residents. They phoned Drake, who at first refused to surrender, but about an hour later he left his apartment peacefully and was taken into custody. After searching the apartment, detectives said the weapon used in the robbery was a pellet gun.
