Delaware State Police are searching for a man they say stole a handgun from Steele's Gun Shop.

The man visited the store at about 1:15 p.m. July 10 and asked for a part to a gun, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police. While the store owner left the suspect unattended, Founier said, the man took a .45-caliber handgun off of the counter, and put it in his short's waistband before leaving the store.

The man is described as white, 55-65 years old, wearing a blue and white, short-sleeved, Hawaiian-style shirt, blue shorts and a white baseball cap. He may go by the name Michael and could be driving an older-style van with handicapped tags or a placard, Fournier said.

If anyone has information on the incident, call Troop 7 at 644-5020, 1-800-TIP-3333, go to www.tipsubmit.com, or text 274637 using keyword DSP.
