Delaware State Police have arrested two men who they say drove around Sussex County recently shooting at homes where police officers live.

Police arrested Orrin D. Joudrey, 20, of Delmar, Md., and David M. Watson II, 24, of Laurel, on Jan. 2 and charged them with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangering, conspiracy and other charges.

Police said the men drove around Maryland and western Sussex County firing a shotgun and rifle at several law enforcement officers' homes. In particular, they fired shots Dec. 27 at a Dewey Beach police officer's home on Laurel Road west of Laurel, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

No one was injured, he said.

Police arrested Joudrey following an early morning traffic stop in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol, Fournier said. During a search of his vehicle, police found shotgun and rifle ammunition that may have been used to shoot the Dewey Beach police officer's home, he said.

Police later arrested Watson at his home. Inside the home, police found a 12-gauge shotgun, a rifle and ammunition for both, Fournier said.

Joudrey and Watson both were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Joudrey in lieu of $320,500 cash bail and Watson in lieu of $330,500.

Police continue to investigate an incident Dec. 30 in the 9000 block of Sharptown Road. Anyone with information is asked to call 856-5850, Ext. 219, or crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, go to www.tipsubmit.com or text 274637 using keyword DSP.

If these allegations have merit, then what on earth was going through their minds? Another indication of reckless mental derangement in contemporary America.
