Police: Rehoboth woman escapes abduction by jumping out of car
A 20-year-old Rehoboth Beach woman was assaulted and abducted Aug. 23 while walking her bike along Munchy Branch Road, police say.
The woman was walking at 1:35 a.m. in the 18000 block of Munchy Branch Road when she was approached by a man driving along the road, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.
The man assaulted the woman and forced her into the car before driving toward Route 1, Day said.
At the intersection of Route 1 and Munchy Branch Road, Day said, the woman was able to escape. She ran to a nearby business where bystanders called police.
She was treated and released at a nearby hospital with minor injuries, Day said.
Police describe the man as black.
