A 31-year-old Lewes man faces burglary charges after police say he burglarized a Long Neck home, and later returned because he forgot his cellphone.

A 33-year-old woman called police at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 and told them she smelled cigarette smoke in her home in the 26000 block of School Lane, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

While she was on the phone with police, Fournier said, the woman saw a white man wearing an orange shirt jump out of a rear window of her home. The man ran across Bay Farm Road where police arrested him.

Nathan M. Orr told police he and someone named "Chris" cut a window screen and climbed through it to remove electronics, jewelry and a firearm. The two left, but Orr later returned to retrieve his cellphone he left behind, Fournier said.

Police found two syringes and a pipe on Orr. All of the woman's stolen property was returned, including a Glock 27 handgun. Also found, Fournier said, was a stolen credit card taken Aug. 25 from a 68-year-old man's Mariner's Cove home.

Orr was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft of a firearm, three counts of theft, second-degree conspiracy, two counts possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $16,300 secured bond.
