Police are still seeking help from the public to find the person who hit a rollerblader near Rehoboth.

Police said Robert C. Flanagan, 55, of Dover was rollerblading west on Rehoboth Avenue Extended, when he was hit by a vehicle about 8:17 p.m., March 17 in front of Big Sissies Bar & Grill.

The driver of the vehicle fled toward Route 1, police said. Flanagan was admitted to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. He was released from the hospital several weeks later, but police have made little progress in finding the person who struck him.

Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day said, “We do not have definitive information we can release about the vehicle's color. We have received tips, but none have lead to the identification of the driver.”

Investigators said Flanagan was wearing a flashing red light and two other lights and was on the shoulder of the road when he was struck. They said they had no information on why Flanagan was in Rehoboth or where he was going when the crash occurred.

Day said police interviewed people at the scene of the crash and have received information through the tip line.

“We are still seeking the public's help and will investigate any new tips,” Day said.

Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at Troop 7 at 302-644-5020, Ext. 117.
