Police: Teens orchestrate crime
Victims robbed at area motel
A Milford man and four teens from Milford and Millsboro face charges after police say they planned a rendezvous with two men at a Lewes motel in order to rob them.
Milford residents Derrick J. Legree, 25, Antonio Peay, 17, and Alycia M. Peay, 19, and Skyy Waters, 15, and Chazna B. Halliday, 15, both of Millsboro were charged following a motel room invasion at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Anchorage Motel on Route 1, said Sgt. Paul G. Shavack of the Delaware State Police.
Shavack gave the following account of the incident:
Two men, ages 19 and 20, went to a room in the Anchorage Motel for a prearranged meeting with Alycia Peay, Skyy and Chazna. They all were inside the motel room when Legree and Antonio Peay burst into the room demanding money. Legree had a handgun and ordered the men to the floor, however, both men escaped; the 19-year-old jumped through a glass window and called 911. Inside the motel room, the others took the victims' backpacks containing an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in a silver PT Cruiser. Georgetown police spotted all five suspects inside the car at about 1 a.m. in Georgetown and arrested them.
During the investigation, Shavack said police learned Alycia Peay, Skyy and Chazna planned and orchestrated the motel invasion and robbery. Police charged all suspects with two counts of first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, home invasion with intent to commit a violent felony, second-degree assault, second-degree conspiracy and possession of a deadly weapon by person prohibited. All were committed on unspecified cash bail; Legree and Alycia Peay to Sussex Correctional Institution and Antonio Peay, Skyy and Chazna to Stevenson House Detention Center.
The 19-year-old who jumped through the glass window was taken to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for lacerations; his condition was not known, Shavack said.
