The Rehoboth Art League held its first solo exhibit reception at its Annex located at 510 Rehoboth Ave. June 21, featuring the works of Cassie Taggart.

Taggart says about her work, “Nothing in reality is clear. Everything is filtered through our minds, which are filtered through our past experiences. There is no such thing as truth in life or in art, and so I present a fluid vision of truth, one that morphs into many forms, so that the viewer can have his own experience viewing the work, while I have my own experience creating it. The story that unfolds within us is a Rorschach test, reflecting our personal realities. The interior life and the exterior life sometimes coalesce, but often they are on different trajectories. My work plays with the back-and-forth between inner and outer worlds and how they relate, how they enlighten and deceive one another. The interior spaces often feel confined either through architecture or clutter, however they open out to a window of vast tranquil space. There is the play of space within the interiors, of pictures depicting other spaces, and even the subjects may be porous, such as the mother in ‘Someday (Never)’, whose jumper reveals a cross section of deeply tunneled earth.”

The exhibition will run through Sunday, July 20.

The RAL annex in the historic McQuay’s Marketplace building is open from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, and noon to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The Rehoboth Art League is a membership-based nonprofit arts organization. For more information on the league, its classes, events and exhibitions, visit rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408.
