RAL selects artist William Dec to paint Cottage Tour homes on canvas2013 tour to take place July 9 and 10
The Rehoboth Art League announces William Dec as the artist to create paintings of the eight homes on the 64th Annual Cottage Tour. The Rehoboth Art League's Cottage Tour is one of the region's oldest cottage tour events. Dec’s paintings of the homes will be featured in the event’s program booklet.
This year’s Cottage Tour will include seven exceptional private homes and the Homestead, a 1743 Colonial home listed on the National Register of Historic Places and located on the art league campus. The tour is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10. The homes featured are filled with interesting artwork, beautiful antiques and modern amenities surrounded by fascinating interior design, compelling architecture and imaginative landscaping.
Known for his landscapes and seascapes, Dec has exhibited extensively and has received exceptional recognition and acclaim. His paintings become part of many private collections. The appeal of his paintings is related to the authenticity and honesty he captures so well. Dec paints the American scene in the mood of each season. In addition to his artist profession, Dec held positions in New York advertising firms for more than 25 years. He also was the former owner of William’s Gallery in Chesapeake City, Md. He attended Oberlin College and the University of Michigan and studied at the Art Students League of New York and Pratt Institute. Dec teaches art and has been an art instructor at New York University, Parsons School of Design and Adelphi University. He currently holds drawing and watercolor classes in Camden and will also be teaching Fun with Watercolor at the Rehoboth Art League in May.
Tickets for this year’s Cottage Tour may be purchased in advance at www.rehobothartleague.org or by calling 302-227-8408. The $30 per person ticket permits free transportation by the Jolly Trolley to each home and access to the eight homes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Cottage Tour proceeds benefit the programs of the Rehoboth Art League, which seeks to teach art, inspire artists and their admirers, and preserve the artistic heritage of the region. The art league welcomes sponsorship support from local businesses. For more information on the tour and other events and classes, visit www.rehobothartleague.org.
