Rappa will provide real change in Dover
I recently attended the debate between Ms. Rappa and Ms. Briggs King that was recently reported in the Cape Gazette. I have several questions and concerns that I feel need to be addressed.
It was pointed out during the debate that Briggs King co-sponsored a bill with Paul Baumbach that would have clarified and expedited some policies and procedures of the Rent Justification Act. But, when it came down to the final vote of the bill with the approved amendments, she was the only legislator to vote no. It was her bill.
What makes matters worse is she tried to insert an amendment at the last minute that seriously jeopardized the bill's passage that would have dismantled the Rent Justification Act. And nobody - even from her own Republican caucus - voted for it. It seemed to me that Briggs King was only interested in protecting her own political agenda and her own political gain.
I can't support a legislator who carries no influence on the floor or even in her own caucus. I want real change. That is why I am voting for Paulette Rappa for House representative. She lives in manufactured housing, and who better to represent me and my neighbors, than someone who shares the same lease as we do. I feel a fresh face and a strong concerned voice is what we need in Dover in 2015.
