Rehoboth ALS Walk Sept. 14 to honor Ted Pokorny
Team Ted was formed in 2010 when Ted Pokorny was diagnosed with ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease. The team not only provided love and support for Ted and his wife, Jo, during his ALS journey, but fulfilled their desire to raise funds for the ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter to be used for continued research and equipment needs of those facing this devastating, degenerative neuromuscular disease.
Team Ted raised more than $50,000 through Art for the Cause 2011, Art-a-PalooozzzA 2012, Rehoboth Walks to Defeat ALS and the ALS Dinner Club.
Ted died Feb. 15, 2013. His memory is a daily dose of inspiration for what a big heart caring for others really looks like!
This year's walk Saturday, Sept. 14 on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk will be the final fundraising event for Team Ted as members, family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate Ted's life.
