Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company installs officers for 2014

The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company installed its officers for 2014 Dec. 29. Warren Jones, executive manager of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association and a member of the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company, conducted the installation.

Harry Miller, a retired Rehoboth Beach police officer and a current Delaware state fire marshal, was installed as fire chief. Ronnie Blizzard, a Rehoboth area builder, was installed as company president.

The other fire line officers are; William (Jeff) Blizzard, deputy chief;  Chatam Marsch, first assistant chief; Leonard Marsch, second assistant chief; James Worrall III, third assistant chief; Donald Mitchell Jr., chief engineer; Heather Blizzard, Vaughn McCabe and Louis Modesto as captains; and Rob Shinn as safety officer.

The other elected administrative officers are Daniel Mitchell, vice president; Dawn Lynch, secretary; Richard Mitchell Jr., assistant secretary; Ted Doyle, treasurer Rob Dobak, assistant treasurer ;and Joseph Wastler, executive member.

President Blizzard said, “One of the goals for 2014 is to continue with our capital campaign to raise the funds to offset the cost of the new fire station 2, currently under construction, on Airport Road. We look forward to the completion of Station 2, which will enhance our service to the community.”

Chief Miller said his goals for 2014 “Are to provide the best possible fire, rescue and EMS service to the citizens and visitors of the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company District, as the company has done since 1906.”

The fire company provides emergency services to incorporated areas of Rehoboth Beach, Henlopen Acres and Dewey Beach as well as the non-incorporated areas along the Route 1 and Route 24 corridors out to and including the Angola area. A special note for this year’s officers is the newly installed third assistant chief, James Worrall III who follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, James Worrall Sr. who was a legendary past chief of the Good-Will Fire Company of New Castle.
