The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Homestead Bed & Breakfast. Members of the chamber’s Meet & Greet Committee were present to welcome Homestead B & B.

The Homestead Bed & Breakfast at Rehoboth Beach celebrated its new ownership with the ceremony. Owners Joe Sterner and David Brinton hosted an open house immediately following. The event was attended by the inn's neighbors, local business operators and friends of the proprietors.

The Homestead B & B has been operating for more than 10 years and was acquired by Sterner and Brinton in September 2013. While no strangers to the hospitality industry, this is the couple's first venture as full-time innkeepers. Nonetheless, the duo has made short work of making the Homestead one of the premier inns at Delaware beaches.

At press time, the Homestead Bed and Breakfast is the No. 1-rated B & B on TripAdvisor.com for the Rehoboth Beach area. Sterner attributes the growing chatter to the personal interaction with guests and the delicious breakfasts. "Each morning we prepare a full continental breakfast and couple it with a home-cooked entrée ranging from made-to-order omelets to banana pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup. Though my favorite parts of the day are the conversations we have with our guests and the opportunity to offer suggestions to help make their stay a memorable one," he said.

Brinton says the success is in the details, "Our guests really appreciate our mix of hotel-quality amenities with a home away from home feel." The Homestead offers gourmet coffees and teas 24/7; high-end quilts, linens and bedding; and personal climate controls in each of the inn's four guest rooms and the detached cottage. Additional amenities include beach towels, umbrellas and beach chairs for an afternoon of sun and fun.

The pair agree that being a destination for guests wanting to travel with their pets has also been key. The inn sits on two acres of well-manicured property featuring a fenced-in dog walk, outdoor shower and additional pet amenities. The Homestead B & B is the only Delaware accommodation listed in Bring Fido's "Ruff Guide to the United States," which highlights 365 of the best places to stay and play with a dog in all 50 states.
