Rehoboth-Dewey chamber promotes resort area and members
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce kept busy at events across the state and beyond during the month of February. The chamber participated in the statewide B2B Expo along with fellow members, promoted the resort area at the 2014 DC Travel and Adventure Show, and provided step-on guide service and familiarization with group tour operators. Both the State of Delaware Tourism Office and Southern Delaware Tourism were partners in the representation.
The chamber staff and members networked at the Statewide B2B Expo coordinated by the Central Delaware Chamber Feb. 19 at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. The expo hosted 86 vendors and approximately 500 attendees looking to connect with businesses statewide.
The chamber, represented by Chamber President/CEO Carol Everhart, teamed up with Southern Delaware Tourism and the Delaware Tourism Office to make a big splash at the 2014 Washington, D.C. Travel & Adventure Show Feb. 22 and 23. Approximately 100,000 travel enthusiasts visited the D.C. Convention Center to gather information for the next trip, of which 74 percent find their next vacation at this show and book within six months.
Twenty five group tour operators visited prominent attractions, eateries, retail locations, and accommodations throughout the State of Delaware during a FAM Trip coordinated by the Delaware Tourism Office on Feb. 27. Everhart served as a step-on guide during their visit to the beach resort area. Tour operators stopped at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, shopped at the Tanger Outlet Centers, and topped off their afternoon with a tasting, tour and lunch at Nassau Valley Vineyards. Lunch was catered by Nage and included a brief presentation from Southern Delaware Tourism. Before heading to their next destination, operators visited tabletop displays set up by local attractions and accommodations including the chamber.
