Delaware State Police arrested a Rehoboth Beach man Jan. 12 they say stole his grandmother's credit card and ran up $2,500 in charges.

Police had been looking for Maxwell J. Schenck, 24, in connection with credit card theft and found him following an anonymous tip, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Police found him at a home on Grandview Street in Lewes after they learned Schenck was staying there with friends, he said.

Fournier said Schenck previously was living with his grandmother when police say he took her credit card and made various purchases at Walmart, Safeway, Royal Farms and Ruby Tuesday, where he last used the card Nov. 25, 2012.

Schenck was charged with two counts of felony theft and 61 counts of unlawful use of a credit card.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $126,000 secured bond.
