Rehoboth Museum-Jolly Trolley local history tours continueReservations are a must
The Jolly Trolley has teamed up with the Rehoboth Beach Museum for guided tours of the city this summer. Tours begin at 9 a.m. before meters are active and last approximately 50 minutes. The trolley tour will start and end at the Anna Hazzard Museum at 17 Christian St.
The cost of the tour is $10, which includes entrance fee for the Anna Hazzard House and the Rehoboth Beach Museum. Reservations are required. Tours fill up quickly. For reservations and information call the museum at 302-227-7310.
Tours will run on the following dates: Aug. 15, Sept. 19 and Oct. 25.
Visitors and locals will experience first hand pieces of the history of Rehoboth Beach such as the birth of the town as a Methodist camp meeting site and its growth as a resort town. They will also learn about shipwrecks, submarines, storms and sand dunes.
The Jolly Trolley began when a group of locals wanted to have a means of transportation that would let visitors get a feel for the sights, sounds and different experiences of two resort areas Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. The Jolly Trolley began its first runs in 1970.
The Rehoboth Beach Museum is located at 511 Rehoboth Ave. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. For information go to www.rehobothbeachmuseum.org.
