Rehoboth police arrest two for car break-ins

Photo by: Submitted Rehoboth Beach Police have arrested Gina Sautter, 43, and Dustin Manahan, 27, in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts around the city. The pair are also facing additional charges from Delaware State Police and Lewes Police Department.

Rehoboth Beach — The Rehoboth Beach Police Department has arrested a Rehoboth man and woman for their roles in a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Police say Gina Sautter,43, and Dustin Manahan, 27, broke into several vehicles and newspaper machines and stole property left unsecured, including two unattended purses. Sautter was identified through various security cameras around the city. The security videos also showed Sautter had attempted to use stolen credit cards.

Sautter was arrested June 11 and charged with two counts of theft from a senior, second-degree conspiracy, eight counts of third-degree criminal trespassing, eight counts of third-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, six counts of theft under $1,500, theft of lost or mislaid property and two counts of attempted unlawful use of a credit card.

Manahan was charged with three counts of theft from a senior, three counts of second-degree conspiracy, 10 counts of third-degree criminal trespassing, 15 counts of third-degree conspiracy, seven counts of criminal mischief, 14 counts of theft under $1,500, theft of lost or mislaid property and two counts of attempted unlawful use of a credit card.

Sautter and Manahan are incarcerated at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown; Manahan defaulted on $60,000 cash and secured bond while Sautter defaulted on $26,000 cash and secured bond, said Lt. William Sullivan of the Rehoboth police department.

Delaware State Police and Lewes Police Department have filed additional charges against Sautter and Manahan, with Sautter facing additional warrants in Rehoboth. Sullivan said the pair will be charged with additional thefts in Rehoboth. He said Manahan is suspected of stealing a purse from Thoroughgood Laundromat.

Master Cpl. Gary Fournier, spokesman for Delaware State Police, said Sautter was arrested June 10 for stealing a backpack containing $150 from Epworth United Methodist Church. Fournier said she also broke into the Rehoboth Beach Little League concession stand on June 8 and stole food and candy. Manahan was also arrested in connection with these thefts, Fournier said.

In addition, Manahan was charged with six counts of theft and six counts of criminal mischief for breaking into six Cape Gazette newspaper boxes and stealing $20 on June 9. Fournier said Manahan is a Tier 2, medium-risk sex offender and was charged with three counts of failure to reregister.
