Rehoboth police seek help to find keg thiefs
Rehoboth Beach — Rehoboth Beach police are looking for suspects in thefts of empty beer kegs from two Rehoboth Avenue restaurants over the last two weeks.
On Oct. 27, empty beer kegs were taken from Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats at 320 Rehoboth Ave. The next week, Nov. 7, empty kegs were taken from Fins at 243 Rehoboth Ave. In both cases, the locking devices securing the kegs were disabled. Surveillance video of the area is being reviewed for more information, police said.
Det. William Sullivan said the suspects most likely took the kegs to get the cash deposit back from returning them to a liquor store or scrapping the kegs for money. He said the deposit on the kegs would net $25 to $30 each, while selling the kegs for scrap metal could net much more.
Anyone with more information is asked to call Sullivan at 302-227-2577 or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers at www.tipsubmit.com.
