Rehoboth seeking wallet thief
Rehoboth Beach — Rehoboth Beach Police are looking for a suspected wallet thief who attempted to use a stolen debit card to withdraw money and purchase movie tickets.
On July 5, a wallet was stolen out of a Jeep Wrangler parked in the area of First Street between Wilmington and Delaware avenues. The theft occurred between noon and 2 p.m. The victim was away from the car, and on returning noticed the wallet with several credit cards and a small amount of cash had been stolen from the locked center-console area.
The alleged thief had used the debit card to purchase gas at the Dewey Beach Exxon station at 2:30 p.m., before heading to The Movies at Midway. There, the thief was unsuccessful in using the card to purchase tickets to the movies and withdraw cash. The name of the movie was not available.
Surveillance video collected from Movies at Midway show the suspect to be a white man, 18 to 25 years old with dark hair and a partial beard. The suspect was about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 170 pounds, wearing a black T-shirt, white shorts and black flip-flops.
