Rehoboth VFW and Auxiliary honor LTC (Ret.) Ron Erale of Cape Henlopen High School

LTC (Ret.) Ronald D. Erale was recognized Feb. 16 as the Outstanding Citizenship Teacher of the Year for his exemplary service to youth in the local area. Erale initiated the JROTC program at Cape Henlopen High School, and it has greatly expanded, thanks to his leadership. He was presented with certificates of accomplishment and cash awards by VFW Post 7447 and its Ladies Auxiliary.

At the awards assembly at the post home which celebrated several award winners, Erale was joined by his wife and daughter. Many post and ladies auxiliary members attended to honor Erale, who has provided the post with many young essay contestants.

"He has instilled a strong sense of citizenship in the young people he trained, and our community has been blessed by his service," said Scholarship Chair Barbara McGowan.
