A rollerblader struck by a hit-and-run driver is improving at Christiana Hospital while police continue to search for the driver who left the scene.
Robert C. Flanagan, 55, of Dover, was struck at 8:17 p.m. March 2 in front of Big Sissies Bar & Grill on Rehoboth Avenue. Bystanders immediately called an ambulance, which rushed Flanagan first to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was later transferred to Christiana where he was admitted with injuries to his head and torso.
According to a Christiana spokesman, on March 14, Flanagan was listed in good condition.
Police investigating the incident said Flanagan was rollerblading on the shoulder of the road, wearing a flashing red light and two other lights when he was struck. The driver fled toward Route 1, police said.
Delaware State Police spokesman John Day said police continue to investigate the accident. He said police have received tips, but no arrests have been made.
