Sata Wada Davis "Sadako"

Sata Wada Davis "Sadako", 89, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Cadbury at Lewes. Mrs. Davis was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Yamagata, Japan, daughter of the late Suruzo Wada and Taka Nagooka.

For many years she was a teacher and librarian for the Zama American School in Camp Zama, Japan. It was here she met her late husband Frank H. Davis who passed in 1998.

Mrs. Davis was an avid artist and was very active in the Rehoboth Art League and had many other art interests in the Rehoboth area. Right up until her passing she was active with the Osher Life Long Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Lewes. An avid gardener, she reveled in the beauty of nature and the great joy that each day brought to her.

She is survived by two sisters, Sakato Ina Gai and Tetsu Wada both of Japan; her husbands’ niece and nephews, Patricia Ann Mercer of Wyoming, John G. Davis Jr. of Dover and Paul G. Davis of Sudbury, Mass.; three great-nieces in the United States; and two nephews and a niece in Japan.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.  Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
