Now that you made that investment and installed a conditioned crawl space, did you make sure to have a termite inspection?

The down side to having a conditioned or encapsulated crawlspace is that it also creates an ideal environment for a termite infestation and severely limits or eliminates the ability to inspect for termites on an annual basis. In the last three years, Activ Pest Solutions has encountered numerous homes with conditioned/encapsulated crawl spaces in which hidden termite infestations were not discovered until they swarmed into the living space.

We are experiencing a lot of homes in our area that have spent thousands of dollars on having an energy efficient crawl space with huge termite infestations. Public thought process is to save money by becoming energy efficient or eliminating any moisture issues. The dark side of this installation practice is that any past, present or future termite activity is now inaccessible for inspection and treatment. Given the nature of termites, inaccessibility usually results in major structural damage to your home. Having your home properly treated before any sealed crawl space installation is the only way to insure your home against termites.
