SDTR's first dinner dance a success
Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding held its first Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance Feb. 14 at the CHEER Center in Georgetown. More than 320 people filled the CHEER Center and enjoyed great food as they danced the night away to music by The Funsters.
This entertaining night filled with hearts and good cheer raised a substantial amount of funds which will directly benefit the participants of SDTR. We are a nonprofit 5013c that provides equine assisted-therapy to children and adults with special need in Sussex and Kent counties.
This wonderful event was made possible by many generous sponsors. Thank you to: NRG, Modern Controls and Bonnie Benson, as well as to 16 Mile Brewery who donated a portion of their proceeds to SDTR. We would like to thank photographer Sue Fortier of Fortier Photography for offering portraits and then donating a portion of her proceeds to SDTR. Also thank you to the following who donated door prizes: Bellinger’s Jewelry for the beautiful piece of jewelry, The Rookery for the round of golf for four; Shore Floors by Justin Fehrenbach for donating a floor cleaning; Helen Heim for the beautiful handmade afghan and De Anna Frazier for the wine basket. In addition we need to give a big thanks to the CHEER Center and Lighthouse Catering for walking us through this first time event and making it a fabulous success.
Lastly, we need to thank a very dedicated team of hard working volunteers from SDTR. Many thanks to Tom Peet, Jennifer Swingle, Kathy Lopez, Keith McDonald, Mike Summerlin, Kelly Boyer, Jon Hefti and DeAnna Frazier.
We at SDTR were excited and grateful for all the community support we received for our inaugural event. This fun night supported a great cause and will enable SDTR to continue “Improving Lives One Stride at a Time.”.
We look forward to hosting this event again so mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 14. For more information on SDTR please call 302-644-1920 or visit www.sdtrhr.com
