Seaford residents injured in Route 404 accident
Two Seaford residents were seriously injured Sept. 6 when police say their car collided with a tractor trailer.
Michael Johnson, 29, of Seaford was driving a 1999 Ford Contour at 8:38 a.m. east on Route 404 west of Vaughn Road, said Cpl. John Day of the Delaware State Police.
For unknown reasons, Day said, Johnson swerved into the path of a 2007 Freightliner truck driven by Daniel Jacobs, 57, of Seaford.
Jacobs tried to avoid a collision and swerved toward the right shoulder of the westbound lane, however, the Contour struck the driver's side of the trailer, Day said.
The car spun several times before stopping off the roadway. Johnson and his passenger, Shalamar Johnson, 27, of Seaford were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Shalamar was treated for serious leg and internal injuries; Johnson was flown to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition with several injuries.
Jacobs was properly restrained and not injured, Day said. Route 404 was closed for about five hours before the accident was cleared.
