Jan 24, 2014

Milford's Second Street Players will hold auditions for the comedy “M*A*S*H” at 7 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11, at the Riverfront Theater, 2 South Walnut St. in downtown Milford.

The comedy, written by Tim Kelley and adapted from the book by Richard Hooker, is the second show of Second Street Players’ 2014 season and is based on the well-known and award-winning movie and TV series. M*A*S*H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, and joining it are two unpredictable madcaps, Hawkeye and Duke.

In this wild, free-flowing comedy, the two Army docs wage a campaign to get a young Korean to the United States and entered into a good school. All the characters are here - Cpl. “Radar” O’Reilly, Lt. Col. Henry Blake, Capt. Burns, “Hot Lips” Houlihan and Father Mulcahy, plus a few less familiar ones. The plot also includs a little romance mixed with dramatic moments and a genuine love of life.

Director Mark Dissinger and Assistant Director Josh Gross are looking for an ethnically diverse cast of 16 men and 14 women, plus extras, ages 18 and up. Although nontraditional casting will be considered, the cast of characters specifically includes a Korean teenage male and an African-American male to portray one of the Army surgeons.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. A resume with a headshot is encouraged but not necessary. Rehearsals will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the theater. Performance dates are April 25, 26, 27, and May 2, 3, 4. For more information, call Mark at 302-228-9612.
