Sheila M. Cross, 73, of Millsboro, formerly of Upland, Pa., a faithful wife, loving mother and doting grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

She was born April 7, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Roy and Dolly (Maedinger) Whewell.  Sheila was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro, where she attended aerobic classes and participated in the supporting our troop events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Cross, in 2001.  She is survived by a son, James R. Cross; two daughters, Peggy Cross-Covert and Maureen A. Cross; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Rd., Millsboro. Friends and family may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro.  Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Sheila’s name to the Easter Seals of Georgetown, 22317 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
