Sussex Habitat program aids low income homeowners

Source: Submitted Tom Protack, community engagement director for Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, and Sussex County Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps members join with the St. John the Apostle Church youth group.

Members of the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Confirmation Class recently came out and participated in an A Brush With Kindness project in Sea Air Village, Rehoboth Beach.

A Brush with Kindness is a program of Sussex County Habitat for Humanity  that helps low-income homeowners by offering exterior home improvements.  Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by painting, landscaping and performing minor exterior repairs at minimal costs to homeowners who would be unable to complete home repairs on their own. The youth volunteers, led by Deacon John Yaeger along with Habitat AmeriCorps members, painted the home of Brian McCrossen.
