St. Jude The Apostle celebrates teaching mission of church Sept. 14-15
St. Jude The Apostle Church in Lewes will join Catholic parishes across the country in celebrating Catechetical Sunday during the weekend of Sept. 14-15 and will focus on the theme Open the Door of Faith. St. Jude’s will honor those who share in the evangelizing and teaching mission of the church at all the Masses that weekend.
On Catechetical Sunday, not only is the work of catechists in parishes highlighted, but parents and guardians are encouraged to take seriously their role of making their Catholic households places where faith is passed on to the next generation. Currently, more than half a million catechists serve in the nation’s 19,000 Catholic parishes, missions and schools.
These men and women introduce more than 4 million youth and adults to the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. At St. Jude’s, more than 60 parishioners are involved in teaching the faith to children, youth and adults.
