St. Peter's of Salisbury to host concert June 8

Handbell and vocal group to perform religious and popular music

A family-friendly concert of religious and popular music including Disney favorites will be presented by musical ensembles affiliated with Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church of Salisbury, Md., at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 8. The public is invited and admission is free. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit Grace Notes, the church’s handbell ensemble.

Performing are the 11-member Grace Notes Bells and its handbell quintet, along with Peter’s Voice, an eclectic vocal and instrumental group with a folk rock style.

The concert premieres an original composition for handbells and Peter’s Voice composed by local musician Rick Fahey. The program also includes bells playing the old piano favorite “Heart and Soul” using mallets, and two Disney classics, “It’s a Small World” and “Mickey Mouse March.” Pachelbel’s “Canon,” the traditional Irish melody “Be Thou My Vision,” the spirituals “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho” and “Down by the Riverside,” among others, round out the one-hour program.

Grace Notes has participated in the Handbell Musicians of America Festival in Ocean City, Md. Peter’s Voice has performed at a variety of venues including concerts with country singer Jamie O'Neal and Johnny Neal of the Allman Brothers band and at the Chautauqua Institute in New York.
