Exhibitors will show their original paintings, photographs, jewelry, carvings, ceramics, mixed media creations, and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on St. Peter’s Square at Second and Market streets. This event takes place in Lewes’s quaint downtown with an array of specialty shops and restaurants close by. Admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine.
In addition to the artwork, visitors will enjoy the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Women’s famous turkey salad luncheon as well as the silent auction and Featured Artists’ Raffle with over 80 donations from participating artists. Ever popular face painting will be provided for children’s entertainment. One can find shade and air conditioning in the 19th century church building, perhaps catching an interactive demonstration of the parish’s impressive organ by T.J. Thomas, parish music director, or a tour of the historic site by Don Matthews, parish historian. Free parking is available at Shields Elementary School on Savannah Road, with shuttle service provided courtesy of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty of Lewes.
This annual event started as a Clothesline Art Show in 1966 and has grown to include 140 local and national fine artists, with proceeds enabling the church to support many local charities. St. Peter’s Church, founded in 1681, offers four Eucharistic services weekly and sponsors an interfaith Summer Spirituality Series through its Seekers Spiritual Treasures at St. Peter’s Square store. Self-guided tour information for the historic churchyard is available. For further information visit www.stpeterslewes.org, email email@example.com or call the church office at 302-645-8479.
