His experiences have earned him accolades at The Duke Ellington School for Performing Arts, Howard University Arts Scholarship and National Endowment for the Arts Studies with jazz master Calvin Jones. Lalasis served more than 10 years as bassist for headliners at Atlantic City's legendary Elaine's Lounge.
MacAvoy has recorded and performed with many Grammy-winning artists both nationally and internationally. These artists include Lionel Hampton, Sammy Davis Jr., Arthur Prysock, Michel Legrand, Stanley Clark, Billy Paul, Patti Austin, Pat Martino and George Benson.
The Midiri Brothers Quintet will perform at Saketumi Feb. 15. Twin brothers and masters of jazz Joe and Paul Midiri will bring a fun-filled take on the Great American Songbook for Valentine's Day weekend. Tops at jazz festivals coast to coast, the Midiri Brothers entertain with swing, Dixieland and straight-ahead jazz.
Joining the Midiri brothers will be guitarist Pat Mercuri, one of the most versatile musicians in the Mid-Atlantic; drummer Jim Lawlor, a fixture on jazz and big band stages throughout Atlantic City and Philadelphia; and bassist Jack Hegyi, who has worked a wide array of star-studded shows in lounge and jazz bands.
