State police investigate suspicious package

Photo by: Ryan Mavity Delaware State Police's Explosive Ordinance Unit was called to the parking lot of Capital One Bank in Rehoboth Beach July 18 to investigate a suspicious backpack. After evacuating the bank and clearing the area, the backpack turned out to be filled with personal effects.

Rehoboth Beach — Traffic near the Rehoboth Beach Walmart was slowed July 18 as Delaware State Police investigated a suspicious backpack in the parking lot of Capital One Bank, 19268 Old Landing Road.

Delaware State Police’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team examined the bag and found it contained personal items.

The investigation began around 8:41 a.m., and the bank was evacuated. Sections of Old Landing Road were closed until just before noon when the area was deemed safe.
