In our region moles are referred to as the eastern mole or the common mole. They feed largely on earthworms, grubs, beetles and insect larvae. You will most likely find moles in pastures, open fields, meadows and in YOUR LAWN. Moles are blind.  They spend almost all of their time in underground burrows that they excavate. Although you may find them during the daytime, moles are most active at night in response to the movement of earthworms.

Mole damage is usually associated with their tunneling and burrowing activities. They have gained notoriety as a pest for damage to golf course greens, lawns and in situations where accelerated soil erosion may result.  Moles may also destroy crops by burrowing along the rows and killing plants.
