This Songs & Stories will feature a unique pairing of live music, performed by the popular Stuart Vining and Amy Felker, with one-of-a-kind short literary readings performed by local writers. The writers are given the challenge, prior to the event, to write a poem, brief essay or story, under 300 words, using the titles of the songs Vining and Felker will perform. Hence, this Tuesday, there will be writings about “Ohio” followed by a performance of that song, writings about the “Promised Land” again, followed by a performance, etc. The night is a wonderful mix of stories - sad, funny, and nostalgic - and music, all connected through key words.

This month, Vining and Felker will be joined by guest musicians Chuck Workman playing harmonica and Larry Lynch playing bass. Vining plays music with Workman and Lynch regularly as part of the popular group Big Hat No Cattle, which performs at Irish Eyes in Lewes. Workman and Lynch also perform in a number of local bluegrass bands.

Felker, who is the owner of The Lewes Bake Shoppe and Notting Hill Coffee Roastery on Second Street in Lewes, has been performing with Vining for over five years; the duo often practices their music while Felker is roasting coffee beans.
