Elementary Division for Monday, July 7

 

The Scorpions had a big second half and defeated the Cougars by a score of 6-0. Samantha Connors (4), Madison Short and Grace Wiggins had the goals for the Scorpions.

In the second game of the evening, the Coyotes got a first half goal from McKenna Boyle and then made it stand up for the rest of the game to eke out a 1-0 win over the Rattlers.

With the win, the Scorpions have clinched the championship with their medals to be presented on Monday, July 14 at 5:25 before the all-star game.

 

Wednesday’s game schedule: Jaguars vs the Rattlers at 5:45 followed by the Cougars and Coyotes at 6:30 on the Bermuda at Cape Henlopen HS.

 

In the Senior Division the Surfers came back in the second half to defeat the Windriders by a final of 4-3. Madi Irwin had given the Windriders the first half lead with her goal just before half time. Sarah Mushrush then scored early in the second half for the Windriders to give the team a two-goal lead. The Surfers came to life when Alexa Hendrickson scored on a penalty stroke at 15:24, Taylor Smith followed with her goal at 12:10. Cammie Smith scored to give the Surfers the lead before Vienna Iaconi got the game winner with 2:52 remaining. Irwin scored at 1:00 to make the final 4-3.

The Warriors clinched a spot in the championship game with a 3-1 win over the Seahawks. Amanda Sponaugle, Hailey Sibide, and Samie Jacona had the goals for the Warriors while Carlyn Talerico had the goal for the Seahawks.

Wednesday night games on the turf at Cape Henlopen HS begin with the Pirates vs the Warriors at 5:45 followed by the Windriders vs the Seahawks at 6:45.

 

The Championship game will be on Monday, July 14 at 6:45 pm.
