Sussex Academy students take honors at county science fair

Students from seventh, eighth and ninth grades at the Sussex Academy in Georgetown recently participated in the Sussex County Science Fair. Several students at all grade levels won awards.

Medal winners from Sussex Academy include the following: seventh grade - first place Nicholas Whaley, second place Mya Donaway, and honorable mention Kyra Cutsail; eighth grade - second place Mia Kwan; ninth grade - first place Cohen Davis, second place Colden Fees. First-place winners each won $100, second place $75 and honorable mention $25. Special awards were also given by local organizations.

Dow Chemical gave awards to Cohen Davis and Antonia DeBastiani. Tidewater Utilities recognized Kathryn Donati. The Center for the Inland Bays gave awards to Colden Fees and Kira Short, and the University of Delaware in Lewes to Kathryn Donati and Colden Fees. The place winners are all invited to participate in the Delaware Valley Regional Science Fair in Philadelphia, Pa., in early April, competing against students from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
