Sussex County time bank trades time and talent, not moneyMeet and greet informational meeting set for April 20
In today’s economy, everyone wants to find ways to get things done at no cost. The Sussex County Hour Exchange LLC may be an answer. This “time bank” will enable members to meet their needs and offer their own unique skills to others with no exchange of money, thus saving hard-earned cash to pay for other projects and products.
Here’s how it works: The time a member takes to perform a service for someone else is recorded in the organization’s web system as “banked” hours. Banked hours can be spent on a service which another member can provide.
The goals of Sussex County Hour Exchange are to foster volunteerism, make connections with neighbors and strengthen the community. In time banking, the opportunities for service are limitless.
SCHE’s De Raynes said, “At Sussex County Hour Exchange, we believe that everyone has some talent or interest they can offer to others. These acts promote volunteerism, and the exchanges have powerful ripple effects in building community connections.”
All Sussex County citizens are invited to come to a meet and greet informational gathering and learn all about how time banking can simplify their task crunch. Come to the meeting at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20, at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road north of Rehoboth Beach.
Membership is open to everyone for an annual membership fee of $25 for an individual or $40 for a family/household. To apply, go to www.sussexcountyhourexchange.org, click on the Join tab and fill out an application.
