Sussex Republican Women's Club offers alternative to liberal mind-set

Jun 12, 2013
Source: Submitted The Sussex County Republican Women's Club meets on the last Wednesday of each month at Baywood Greens. Shown at a recent gathering (l-r) are Ellen Barrosse, SCRWC President Gale White, and John Fluharty.

The Sussex County Republican Women’s Club, established 60 years ago, educates women about differences of opinion in political issues. Though founded under a charter of the National Federation of Republican Women, which provides these opportunities to women of all ages, races, religions and economic makeup, the organization is open to and has many males as associate members.

Each month, the group, composed of more than 100 members, meets in a social setting for lunch with a guest speaker. There are fundraisers throughout the year to help special causes in Sussex County communities.

One of these events was a recent fashion show with silent auctions, bake sale and lots of door prizes. Though the intent is to procure and raise funds in support of like-minded candidates running for local and state offices, portions are used for outreach in educating others that there is an alternative to the liberal mind-set.

The club actively solicits those seeking elective office to present their ideas at the meetings where members can question and decide on people who will best represent them.

Everyone is cordially invited to join. Luncheon meetings are held at 11 a.m. at Baywood Greens Clubhouse on the last Wednesday of the month. For further information, contact President Gale White at 302-644-0777.
