Sussex Tech announces medalists from State SkillsUSA competition
Sussex Technical High School students brought home numerous medals from the State SkillsUSA competition. Twenty students qualified for the national competition in June in Kansas City, Mo., by winning the state event. Junior Meredith Husar will represent Sussex Tech on the State Officer Team by serving as a vice president.
Leadership Award contests and winners include Chapter Business: Gold, team of Ashton Tomlinson (Millsboro), Paige Robinson (Georgetown), Sydney Buss (Milton), Kira Lyle (Millsboro) and Catherine Minton (Laurel);
Community Service: Silver, team of Jasmina Chatani (Lewes), Julia Chojnowski (Lewes), and Kelsey Magill (Ocean View); Bronze, team of Julia Hawkins (Georgetown) and Courtney Boyle (Georgetown).
In the Job Interview category, Silver went to Janoria Sutton-Bullock (Milton); Krystin Gibson (Delmar) won Gold in Photography.
Prepared Speech winners were Gold, Yessenia Sanchez-Prieto (Millsboro); Silver, Kenya Neal (Georgetown) and Bronze, Brenna Gause (Harbeson).
The Quiz Bowl team of George Hudson (Dagsboro), Shannon LeCates (Seaford), Caitlin Chaney (Bridgeville), Ryan Muchmore (Millsboro), Zach Cannon (Seaford), and Scott Smart (Seaford) earned Silver.
