Sussex Tech honors Carolyn Maull as Staff Member of the Month
Sussex Technical High School named teacher Carolyn Maull as the September 2013 Staff Member of the Month. Maull began the athletic health care-physical therapy technical program at the school in 2004.
As a new member of the Teacher Leadership Academy, Maull showed commendable leadership and consideration for her fellow technical content area teachers by developing the Blackboard platform for their new Professional Learning Communities. She spent many hours of her own time setting up the Blackboard structure for all five of the technical content area PLCs, and she did so without being asked. “As a result, the new PLC members know exactly what they need to do to get their PLCs up and running and have ready-made Blackboard courses where they can input and share their meeting materials,” said Dr. Amelia Hodges, supervisor of Support Services.
Maull is a graduate of the University of Vermont and Columbia University. She previously worked at Princeton University and the University of Denver. She was selected to be an athletic trainer at the Paralympics in Turin, Italy, in 2006. She used the experience to learn teaching techniques for working with the handicapped to bring back to her students at Sussex Tech.
